Voice Professor Honored for Distinguished Teaching

Congratulations to Robin Rice, associate professor of voice, who has been honored with the 2012 Ohio State Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching.  Rice, whose students have performed with over 70 opera companies and symphony orchestras, cite his attentiveness, vast knowledge of vocal techniques, and encouragement; as one said, “I have discovered my voice under his tutelage and feel prepared to embark on a professional career in opera.”

Recipients of the award are nominated by present and former students and colleagues and are chosen by a committee of alumni, students, and faculty. They receive a cash award made possible by contributions from the Alumni Association, friends of Ohio State, and the Office of Academic Affairs. They also receive an increase in their base salaries from the Office of Academic Affairs. The recipients will be inducted into the university's Academy of Teaching, which provides leadership for the improvement of teaching at Ohio State.
