The annual Cividale International Music Mastercourses in Cividale Del Friuli, Italy, took place this year from August 10–14 and consisted of music students from Europe, the United States and China. Students refined their musicianship through participation in masterclasses, solo work, chamber music and performances. Masterclasses were led by musicians from the United States,  Germany, Spain, Israel and London, England. Various courses were available for flute, clarinet, bassoon, piano and all string instruments. The International Music Mastercourses offer participants to engage both as soloists and as  chamber artists.

The International Clarinet Masterclasses were led by clarinet faculty artists Dr. Caroline Hartig, The Ohio State University (Columbus, Ohio); Maestro Nicola Bulfone, Udine Conservatory (Udine, Italy) and Maestro Luca Saracca, Perugia Conservatory (Italy). Daily concerts allowed students the opportunity to observe and perform onstage with professional musicians in the area. Students from Dr. Hartig’s studio at Ohio State included Madison Brickner, Danny Hong, Eli Johnson, Louie Maligaya, Marco Rojas and Lily Tropple. In addition to their solo performances, the Ohio State students collaborated with international string students for fantastic chamber performances of works by Mozart, Milhaud and Bruch among others. In addition to making music, Ohio State students enjoyed learning Italian, engaging with the other international students and with the rich Italian culture, art and food in the charming town of Cividale. Highlights of the festival included a performance of the International Clarinet Academy Clarinet Choir combining professors and students.
